i have a 99 silverado 5.3L 2 wheel drive 180,000 miles. Today i was driving and i noticed when i accelereted a rattling/screeching noise came from the rear lower part of the engine area. but when i let off the eccalerator it would stop the noise and just idle fine. so i checked oil it was about a quart low with 1000 miles sense last oil change, it leaks oil from the oil pan gasket but not much. so i put more oil in it and it still made the noise so i drove it a mile to my farm the engine didnt make any noise unless i accelerated or was on a little hill. also the noise gets louder and faster the more you speed up the engine. If it was my crankshaft bearings wouldnt it still make noise when idling? Because the engine will sit there and idle and it sounds good. could it be the torque converter?
