Of course if i change it myself they say it would void warranty. But I know that's against the law. So what type of oil should I use?

Check your owners manual to see what weight oil they suggest. You can buy most brands and weights at Walmart. They have the best prices all the time. Synthetics work great but are more expensive. Depends on how much you want to spend. You are also correct about them not being able to void your warranty. The only way they can do that is if you do not follow manufactures guidelines concerning oil change intervals by going beyond the maximum range. Basically if they can prove you did not maintain the oil changes and you damage the engine by not doing it they may can deny the warranty. Good luck!!

should tell you right on the oil filler cap
probably 5w-30 or 10w -30 not much difference between the 2 viscosties
i run either or in my tahoe

Pennzoil is a good oil to go with and are reasonably priced at Wal-Mart and dexos approved
changing your own oil will not void any warranty..that is 100% bull****
save your oil change receipts if you worry about warranty

good luck
