Drivers door hard to open

I have a 1997 k1500 suburban purchased a couple of weeks ago and really getting to like, but I have a difficult drivers side door to open from the inside. I can open it just fine from the outside and with the window down can open it fine standing outside by pulling on the door release lever on the inside. the problem is when I try to open it while seated in the drivers seat. I've oiled the latch and striker but didn't seem to help......anyone have ideas what else I should check?

Pull your door panel and check the linkage rod from the inside handle to the door latch. Perhaps there's a clip missing or you can bend the linkage just a little to shorten the stroke when you pull the inside handle.
