I have a '97 plain-Jane GMC Suburban 2500 with manual-crank windows. It's a great truck, and I plan to drive it until it drops. I also have a '96 Chevy Diesel Suburban 2500 which has had the biscuit. Engine is tired, transmission is tired, but it got rear-ended by a Hundawi a couple of years ago, and the frame and body buckled. The frame damage makes any idea of overhauling the engine and transmission pointless. I could buy an undamaged example for less than fixing the one I have.
Now the '96 has power windows, and power mirrors. Can I use the entire doors off the '96 on my '97? Both are the same shade of red, incidentally, except the paint on the '96 is much, much better. Does the wire harness in the '97 body have provision for the power window wiring between the driver's door controls, and the other three doors?
Anyone here done such a swap?
