Does a RWD Corvette handle better than an AWD Lancer Evolution?

This question is in response to the answers I got from another question. These people say that AWD only puts the power to the ground and doesn't improve handling on dry pavement. Is this true?

Ironically despite any ignorant answers just due to the fact that it's AWD vs RWD, the Dodge Viper and ZO6/ZR1 Corvettes are the best handling vehicles in the world. They corner better on pavement and pull way higher numbers then any other car does on the skidpad.
Compare a stock Buick Grand National (which was great handling for 1987) at .91g's on the skidpad, to the Evo's .97 g's on the skidpad to the Corvette's 1.04-1.2g's on the skidpad. Clearly a big difference between Evo handling and Grand National handling, but a even bigger gap of margin between the Corvette and the Evo.

Let's also take into consideration that the Corvette comes out of the factory with a very worked racing suspension while the Evo comes with a simple AWD designed suspension. My Camaro has suspension mods for drag racing (sub frames, different rear suspension, and bigger tires) and could probably pull almost 1g on the skidpad.
