Do Corvettes have a governor on them?

I'm thinking about buying a 2005, I know the speedometer reads 200 mph, but I don't think it goes that fast, so what's the fastest anyone has topped out a corvette at? And do they have limiters on them? If so what's the top speed?

Modified vettes can top 200 mph, the stock 2005 is probably in the 160 to 170 range. The speed is limited by power and drag at those speeds not a governor.
