Dash lights won't come on when headlights are on

Hello.
I have a 2000 Chevy cavalier LS 2.2L and when I turn my headlights on, the dash lights that glow around my gauges does not come on. My dash is completely dark. My radio button lights also do not come on. What could cause this? I have replaced the dimmer switch and it still doesn't work.

assuming you checked for blown fuses, the multi-function switch would be the next guess.

Yes I checked all the fuses. None are blown. And if it was my multi function switch would my lights and blinker not work either? Cuz they do.

the switch has multiple electrical contacts in it which are for different circuits. If you dont want to replace it without testing use a wiring diagram and test light to determine the exact failure point.
