Corvette Servo in Silverado?

I'm looking at installing a 2-4 corvette servo in my 04 Silverado z71. My question is what effects does this have on the transmission, will it prolong the life or shorten it? Will it cure minor slippage from 1st into 2nd gear or make it worse?
I just read the the 1-2 accumulator piston cracked or stuck cocked in the bore. Possible?
