If I have a career that is bringing in about $50,000 a year and im single and living in my parents home at age nineteen, would it be stupid to buy a used corvette from like from 1999 and has about 50,000 miles on it and its $17,000????
First, check the value of the car on KBB.com. Check the car out in person, and bring a car guy if you dont know much about them. Decide if a 17000 car is really what you need at this stage in your life. Decide if its fair to your parents if you live with them at the age of 19 when you can live on your own (based on your income) without a problem, and yet buy a car like this at this price. Depending on your location you could live on your own for quite a bit of time in some apartment and still buy a super reliable gas-sipper for 17000. Just some things to think on.
Shane, get a clue...seriously, you're clueless. A LS1 vette gets GREAT mileage for what it is. The 6-speed EASILY gets 26mpg+ on the highway...not bad for a 350hp car...and upkeep on them isn't bad aside from tires and little stupid stuff that goes wrong. Get a clue before answering.
Anyway, $17K isn't a bad price...the question is can you afford it? Logic would say yes but no one truly knows your financial situation. If you can afford it, the car checks out OK and you don't piss off your parents by buying it then go for it...enjoy it...fun cars to drive
