....chevy suburban wont switch out of park....?

I Have A 2000 Chevy Suburban And This Morning When I Went To Stat It I Had To Turn The Key Really Hard Then When I Get The Key Turned And The Truck Running I Couldn't Switch It Out Of Park And In To Drive ....so I Was Wondering If Anyone Had This Problem And If So If They No How To Fix It

Possibly the brake light switch. That is if you depressed the brake pedal in the first place. I do believe they are designed to not allow movement of the selector without brake pedal being depressed. If you are doing this then it could be a faulty switch.
