2001 Chevy Malibu 172K miles V6 engine

When i increase gas, and get to around 45-55 the car acts sluggish. The RPM goes up and down. It acts like something is holding it back...like back pressure or something. The car goes back and forth like it needs a push every time. This problem is VERY noticeable when going up hills or incline as well.

I've tried new spark plugs and wires. Fuel cleaners, have been using shell with nitrogen fuel for about 3 months, changed fuel filter and nothing helps. I don't know what else it could be...perhaps fuel pump? I thought they just went out/no sign of being bad. Or maybe multiple reasons? I'm lost.
When i first got car...engine light was always on due to this problem i assume. But, i disconnected battery one day and light went out.

clogged cat ? or mabe tranny isnt downshifting wen its supposed to.....

is your check engine light on ?

could be an exhaust leak, bad cat , misfire , bad fuel pump , bad fuel injectors, bad fuel management , bad timing , intake leak.
