chevy malibu front grille?

can someone tell me, i have a 99 chevy malibu and a guy at my school has the same year car i have , he changed his front grille to look like the 2000 chevy malibu front grille, he said you can change the grille in the front as long as the 99 and the 00 has the same engine size and model is this true?

Engine size has nothing to do with it. Model is most important. All cars start thru the assembly line bone stock. The options are added later in the process. For example, if your car doesn't have power windows, if you remove the door panel, the wires are there anyway. Any GM dealer or local junk yard can tell you over the phone if the parts will interchange. They use a special program on the internet that will tell all parts that will interchange. Hope this helps.
