In 1968, when I was 15 and 1/2, my mother sold me her '57 150 fordor for $150 (paper route money)-- this was only the 1st of numerous Chevys over the years (including 55-56-57 Nomads, which I of course cry over ever selling!). I just sold my 63 Impala wagon after upgrading it for 25 years, because I decided to concentrate on my 63 ChevyII, which I've had for over 30 years: pro-built straight6, Offy intake/Holly600, Clifford(!) headers, electronic ign.,Tremec 5-speed etc.
So I still have stock front subframe, all rebuilt of course, and stock rearend/suspension, but increasingly I find drum brakes (even rebuilt!) to be pretty scary! And of course, limited to 13"steel wheels w/Moon-type caps--looks OK. But I'm stuck between liking having all-original but primitive running gear, and wanting to bring the dang thing into the 21st century w/ Chris Alston subframe and/or backhalf and hang all the modern goodies onto that!(they're local to me here in Sacto.and would love to sell all that wonderful stuff). Any opinions, one way or the other? I'm kinda tired of being stuck in the middle.
Another question: I have parts left over from my years w/the 63Impala, mainly a rebuildable 350 longblock, and a never-used 700R4 from TPI (I know, a long-dead company). How do I go about listing those for sale here? I'm not looking to make alot of money on this stuff, just want it to go to a good home! That longblock still has a set Mr.Gasket aluminum roller rockers on it; should I sell those separately? Thanks in advance for any advice!
