Chevrolet Cobalt , which model?

I'm 17 and I'm looking to buy a Cobalt in the next couple of months, preferably the SS model. This question is for anyone who owns a cobalt or whoever has driven one before but how is the gas mileage ? I just need a car to get back and forth from university. I like the two door/sporty look of the SS model but besides the exterior of the SS model does it get better mileage than the LT or the LS. What model would you recommend and why ? I'm looking to purchase a used one for $10 000 or lower but I can't stress the gas mileage enough, I know the smaller the engine the better the gas mileage and i want the best gas mileage of the cobalt models ranging from 2005-2008 ish. Thanks
