CAR PROBLEM-2005 Chevy Malibu MaxxLT- trouble starting the car, what could it be?

My car is a - 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx LT
This past friday I had been driving my car around and running errands for about 30 minutes, i made my final stop to the gas station before going home. after i filled up i went to turn my car on and it wouldn't start.

it makes a weird clicking noise and the spedometer things look like they're trying to turn on but they don't. we tried to jump my car with my friends truck twice but it did no good. i have no idea what the problem could be but
i've gotten two possible suggestions - i need a new starter
OR cellanoid? if thats's how you spell it.

I'm looking for some more possible suggestions before i actually get it towed into the shop. if possible i'd also like some expense possibilities if anyone has had these problems before so i know what im looking to pay when i go to the shop.

could just be a dead battery.

It may be your starter is bad. If your dome light dims when you turn the key to the start position your starter is drawing down on the battery. If not you probably have an open in the circut (maybe in the starter) . Try tapping on the starter with a hammer while having someone else turn the key.
