Can I use a different car gearbox for my corvette?

I have a 1980 corvette and need to change the gearbox.
Can I instal one from a completely different car? I need a car gearbox that is compatible with mine

Hi- I own a 1987 and have been learning a lot about them. In my experience, only replace corvette parts with corvette parts (unless the part is interchangeable with other cars)

An easy way to find out is by going to the parts store. Look up the part number for the part on your car you wish to replace. Then, look up the same part for the car you want to use it out of... if it is the same part number, go for it.

Only thing that will fit is another GM box. Made by Muncie.

Yes. There are several 'exchange' transmissions from GM that are compatible.
