Camaro or Mustang?

So how do you convince somebody who’s in the market for a performance coupe that the Camaro is a better choice than the Mustang? Especially when they don’t have any heavy preference appearance-wise for either car. These two cars have improved drastically over the decades. The Camaro currently holds the performance crown. But the Mustang seems to have an edge in roominess, comfort and even interior quality. And what happened to the affordability? Is the Camaro worth so much more being the better performer while lacking in other areas? What do you tell people who are on the fence? Read more...

Personally I went with the Mustang GT, better classic design, better visibility and equally optioned was less costly. The picture of the Mustang is a Shelby which is in a class all by itself, performance wise and price.

Yeah, I don't blame ya. Ford did amazingly well with the design of the Mustang inside and out. I do like the new Camaro - it's grown on me - but it doesn't have the same "wow" factor to me that the Mustang has. And that's a shame because I've always been more of a fan of Chevy and GM than Ford.

The Camaro pictured is the ZL1 - which is just unreal for a Camaro when it comes to performance. I imagine there's going to be a GT500 in addition to the GT350. Am I right?

I myself have always been a GM fan, Chevy and Pontiac and even Buick but I went over to the dark side on this one. They talk about the GT500 but there are just so many price points and features they can fit the cars into, the Mustang EcoBoost, Mustang GT, Mustang 350(Shelby) and the Mustang 350R( track Shelby). When you get into the 350's and the ZL1 you can consider yourself lucky if you find a dealer selling it at sticker price, 10k, 12k, and more above sticker is not uncommon.

It's Mustang all the way for me. That car looks beastly coupled with top notch performance.

Mustang's kept the sleek look I like so much, but I'm missing the Camaro's performance for sure. We'll see what the future holds though

They just came out with the Bullet that added another 20 HP over the GT, 480 versus 460.

Can't go wrong with either choice, though to me Camaro looks sexier than Mustang.

I've had many Camaro's and a couple of Mustangs. Early on, I always preferred the Mustang GT's over the 4th gen Camaro's. But then after test driving one, it was a night and day difference of how much faster the Camaro was sharing the Corvette's LT1 and LS1 engine. Then around 1998 or 1999, Ford starting picking up the slack and making faster cars to keep up. I love the new Mustangs with 465 HP. I'll take a 6-speed manual any day with one of those. I saw a 2016 Mustang GT with around 10k miles selling for $25k at some dealer not long ago. Too expensive for such an old car. And this thing was a base with no big screen and just cloth seats and an automatic. SUPER LOUD exhaust.
