All,

I have never owned a Suburban but always wanted to. A guy is selling his Suburban 2000 LT for $4500 locally, and I am going to take a look at it tomorrow. He said he has maintenance records and is okay for me to take the vehicle to mechanic.

Wanted to know if you had all records in front of you what are the things you'll be looking for or asking the owner to show (major scheduled maintenance items, etc). I have done some research on the Internet and found 2000 to be fairly reliable year. Are there are specific things I need to be looking at?

I have driven Odyssey for 10 years but no experience with SUVs except some mid sized rentals like Escape and Explorers.

PS: KBB is saying fair value is around $3K but the guy says his vehicle is in excellent condition (with leather seats showing age) plus he is saying he has records so I am thinking maybe $4k is good price? Any thoughts on price are also appreciated .. we are looking for something to replace our 2002 Odyssey as it has died on us.

Thanks in advance!

you have to take it to a local mechanic you trust.
do you see any indications of brake service, transmission fluid and filter service, if 4wd serviced?
Cannt advise on price, no mention of which model or options. Look at edmunds.com and nada.com for other prices.
