I am looking to buy a cam-kit for 2003 C5Z06 (LS6 Engine 5.7L).
It's a bolt-on car that currently makes about 390hp at the rear wheels.
Are the following necessarily required for a cam-install?
Dual roller timing chain;
New oil-pump;
Hardened pushrods;
I want to purchase a cam that's not too aggressive, but also not too mild.
The car should gain as much horsepower as possible, while still remaining streetable and somewhat civilized at idle.
It's very hard to find the right balance with so many cam-options outthere.
What kind of cam or cam-kit (w/ retainers, pushrods, etc.) should I get?
Price is an option since I will also have an underdrive-pulley installed and the car tuned at the same time.
Also, ...is it possible to have stock LS6 heads ported even further?
The car won't be boosted (no supercharger, turbo, or NOS), so I assume it may be possible to extract a bit more power out of those heads while still keeping it safe.
