I was on a kia forum (sorry guys :o) and found some info on changing the trans fluid.
Many of these ppl are draining whats in the pan, refilling, driving a day or two, draining again, refilling, drive another day or two, and some ppl are doing this a 3rd time.
That's ALOT of fluid. I realize its cheaper than another trans but, seems wasteful to me.

Does anyone here do that to their suburban? I've done a few auto trans fluid changes, but never done that before.

Any thoughts on this? I searched the suburban forum but found very little info on the subject.
thanks

In all the decades I have been involved in the automotive hobby, admittly strictly American cars, I have never heard of anybody doing that. The only thing I have ever done is after dropping the pan and removing the filter, starting the engine for about 10 seconds to get some additional fluid out. You can also disconnect the lower trani cooler line for a little more. Sounds to me like a waste of fluid, time, and energy. My transmissions have lasted way past 100K mark and they were high performance applications.

Doing that is rediculously wasteful. I have done the radiator return line process so that I could pump out the old fluid in the torque converter. Unless your old fluid is realy burned or you are switching to Dex VI like I did on my Cadi, just a drain and fresh filter is good enough.

I agree with the two of you. I guess doing it that way you will get more fresh fluid in it but like I said earlier, That ALOT of fluid.

thanks gentlemen
