Hi Everyone.
Yes I'm new here,
but I've been driving Chevy's all my life.
I currently have a 91 Silverado Extended Cab with a 6" Lift.
With that being said:
I've been considering having my truck painted for a while now.
I made some calls today and really didn't like the quotes that I was getting.
The better shops around here are wanting $6K-$9K.
I just can't see paying that kind of coin for a basic paint job.
So....
I started considering just a good black primer job for the time being.
The cheapest I found on that was $1500 + $500 for Rhino Lining the bed.
That's affordable for me, but I'm unsure how it would look.
I'd like it to look smooth and uniform, rather than all blotchy and whatnot,
but I don't know if I'm expecting too much.
Is it possibly to make a black primer look nice?
And how fair does that price sound?
I looked around on the net for black primed vehicles.
Most that I found looked like crap.
I don't know if they were home jobs, or if the primer itself looks that bad.
Something that really caught my eye though was the Flat Black paint jobs,
and the Satin Black paint jobs, like these:
The 69 Chevy claims to be just primer, but I really doubt it.
The other two are paint.
Would this type of paint job be any less expensive?
If so, how much should they run?
Can this look be achieved with just primer alone?
