Hi, everybody:

I have been having two warning lights in the instrument panel turning on and off while I have been driving in the last 2 to 3 weeks. These lights are named in the car manual: ENGINE OIL PRESSURE light and CHECK ENGINE light. Since 3 months ago, I have been adding Koolzone additive coolant every 3 weeks to my car because it has been leaking it.

One month ago, a mechanic checked my car due to the coolant leak and he told me that the intake manifold gasket needed to be changed, but there was no hurry. In my records, it appeared that an intake manifold gasket was changed at another workshop 2 years ago. I think my car has two intake manifold gaskets and two plenum gaskets. Also 2 years ago, I changed my coolant from the manufacturer recommended coolant Dexcool to the recommended coolant by the owner of the workshop that changed the gasket 2 years ago which is Koolzone. He told me that for my car with more than 75,000 miles at that time, Koolzone coolant was better than manufacturer coolant because it has antirust and corrosion inhibitors and no polyethylene glycol opposedly to Dexcool coolant.

My car is a Chevrolet Malibu 2000 with 99,000 miles now. May somebody help me with these questions:

1) Is the turning on and off of the Engine oil pressure light and Check engine
light due to a problem with some gasket (specifically the intake manifold gasket) or is not related to it? If not related, what could be the cause of the two warning lights alert?

2) Would you change back to the manufacturer recommended coolant Dexcool for my Chevy Malibu 2000 car with 99,000 miles or stay with the supposedly more anti-corrosion protective coolant Koolzone?

3) Has somebody ever used the Koolzone additive coolant (with antirust and corrosion inhibitors in the label) for your car? What has been your experience with this coolant? My car along with me has lived in the tropics always.

Thanks for any help with any of the above questions and Merry Christmas to all!

really i doubt that the engine light and oil light is coming from the water leak. it is a common repair to have for a malibu the intake gaskets are not very good and don't last very long, i hear that there's better gaskets offered today but i would think that the temp light would come on long before the engine light if was a water issue. personally on the antifreeze that car by factory recommendations is dex cool. and is supposed to be gasket friendly, never heard of koolzone but i would stay with factory recommendations.
