a 1986 Chevy Silverado making clunking noise ?

my chevy silverado is making clunking noise and thunking when im driving it someone told me to check my transmission and its fine could it be my universal joints and it jerks real bad when it thunks
it only does it when im coasting or coming to a stop

sounds like it could be something in the suspension. Does it happen when you are giving it gas and coasting or just one or the other?

Have someone check your ball joints and the tierods, it could even be a sway bar loose. But if its an 86' It could also be a broken shock or strut. I really hope this helps you.
