New Suburban owner, old Chevy owner. Live in Long Beach NY. Hit hard by Sandy. Lost a lot!!! Semi-submerged in salt water. Hitchhiked 4 towns away for new starter. Got it started after replacement. Water was up to just under seats.
Things I know don't work - Seat controls and heated seats (corrosion already set in bad so I unplugged the harnesses, the controls didn't get wet???. Radio/clock functions but no sound (Speakers went under), Both side mirror controls. Door locks. SERVICE 4WD light is on. AIRBAG light is on. Buzzing sound from under tail near exhaust on passenger side. Carpets obviously soaked.
I HAVE to keep this running. I believe the Service 4WD and airbag service lights must be a short. But where? I need to remove the seats and pull out all of the carpeting - is there a reference on how/what to do? What and "where" do I find harnesses and parts for the seats. Any thoughts on why mirrors died?
Cars have been igniting all over town as things short out, dry out, alarm wires get hot. I can't believe what happened to this town. Thousands of cars and homes were under water. Any help you can give is appreciated. I lost 70 percent of my tools. Boiler, hot water, my furnishings. But this too shall pass.

How come your insurance wont total the vehicle? For parts you can try www.gmpartsdirect.com or a local salvage yard. You need a voltmeter/ohm meter and autozone probably can supply wiring diagrams to help you check for opens or shorts. For any check engine lights you need to have it scanned which autozone does for free. Check all your fuse boxes to make sure they are dry and nothing blew. Here's a link to the owners manual showing the fuse boxes. Good luck!

Thanks thus far. I only have liability insurance, not comprehensive. Geico said sorry for your loss. Flood Insurance doesn't cover it and FEMA sent me paperwork to apply for a loan after they took pictures of it and reviewed my otherr losses. Anyway, I've been driving a '78 GMC Sierra pickup with a 250 6cyl and quite frankly, it seldom needed parts. Didn't know Autzone did that kind of thing and would have asked the other day.

I was sort of hoping that someone might have said something to the effect of " you will xxxx connector, or xxxxx module for your seats". What I got was "good luck" and go to Autozone after I just said I had to hitchhike there. Maybe I should of titled my post as "stylin' new rims". I have to get back to ripping out carpets, sheetrock, flooring, insulation, and capping all my submerged outlets.
