95 chevy 2500 twin turbo diesel (runs rough)

my 95 chevy 2500 twin turbo diesel 4x4 is having all kinds of problems so here we go
i was driving down the road and i heard what sounded like something was dragging so i pulled over and looked and nothing was so i kept going about 2 miles up the road the truck just turns off while driving so i coast to the side and it would start up for a few seconds and then then turns right off so i had it towed home when i got home it started right up and was driving fine but i did notice when you have the hood open on the passanger side when u rev it up a little high it would make a sound like something is knocking around in the cold air intake ..... the next day i drive the truck 5 miles and it turns off again while driving i coast to the side of the road and re start the truck this time it starts up and will idle but if you hit the gas it will not rev over like 2000 rpm so i leave it and go get a friend when we get back it wont start at all but when u try to start it it smokes alot out of the tail pipe so i leave it over night and come back the next day i pump the gas 3 times then start and it starts up and runs but now its making a new louder noise i no longer can hear my turbo whistle while driving and this new sound sounds like it is coming from under the truck while driving ......any ideas would help im lost

I'm no expert, but if you heard noise in the cold air intake, I would take it off and look it over VERY good. Make sure nothing has came apart and gone into your intake. I would also take the hose to the turbo off and make sure you have not shelled a turbo. Make sure the Fins are all there and the turbo spins freely. If all that looks good I would change the fuel filter/filters. If it is starving for fuel some injectors may not pop off correctly. (Ford experience- may not be so on chevy) I even had a bad injector on my ford 7.3 and it made a holy hell of a Racket!! Good luck.
