78 nova kick panel customization

OK on my 78 nova I removed the right kick panel and I found some space to add a 5x7 speaker on the air vent hole. So my question is how Important is these air vents in the kick panel. Also I found a bunch of leafs and dirt in there so where does the air vent start at so I can plug it if its not that important . The reason I'm asking is the car came with one speaker and I Dont want to cut the car and put speaker s where they Dont belong so that's why I want to use the vent hole
 
OK I answered my own question but now I have another tho. I found out the vents starts on top of the car by the hood. Seeing how water dirt and all that crap goes into that vent would it be wise to put a speaker in the place of the vent in the interior knowing where it starts . Also is there a way to take the top vent off by the hood so I could add a mesh guard there to help keep stuff out
 
doesnt seem like a good place to put a speaker not to mention it was designed to be a vent for the interior. Not sure if they go that far back but you could try a site like www.crutchfield.com for speaker location suggestions.
 
According to curtchfield it says only the front dash which is only one speaker my doors Dont have cutouts . I'm not worried about the air its I don't want to cut the car to add speakers
