i have a 76 camaro and was wanting to find out if it would hurt the engine to start putting 5w-20 in it. i have been using 5w-30 but it also has bout 135,000 miles on the original engine. i feel that it would be better for it but i was going to see what yall thought before i did it
Thanks

Don't do it. It's only in the last few years that 20 weight oil was used at all in some makes. It sacrifices protection for fuel economy, but the cars that can use it have been specifically designed for it.

if its your daily driver the oil will get hotter faster and probably would give you much more friction because its thinner. why would it be better??? unless its freezing out. , you need to stick with the 5w-30 maybe a synthetic blend or high mileage. my v6 takes 5w-20.
