Is anybody else upset over how Chevrolet requires an additional data plan or a more expensive Onstar plan to use the Google Assistant? You can't say "hey Google" to ask anything under this new system. I also question how GM can make someone pay additional money for something that's free to use under any other circumstances.

So if you just pair your phone to the car, you cannt say hey Google and it uses the phones data plan?

Correct. My phone is paired to the vehicle. Android Auto and Google Maps still work but if you want to ask Google for directions or to find nearest restaurants, you will need to purchase additional OnStar service plans. The "Hey Google" is no longer available unless you purchase a "Manufacturer's data plan. Keep in mind, this issue is on most 2022 trucks and SUVs.
