2021 tow ability?

Considering a AWD traverse LS without the trailer package, but rated at only 1500 lbs? Can I get it to above this number with a curt class lll hitch and maybe a Tran oil cooler?
what’s the scoop?
it’s either this or a Honda Pilot that out the door can pull 3500 lb w/o their trailer package.

If you have a transmission issue and they see evidence of a hitch or the cooler it is an unknown how the dealer will react.
