Just purchased our 4th Suburban (2013 LT with Z71 package) and we're having the following driveability issues:

1. Hesitation on "tip-in" of the throttle (all the time, but worse when cold)

2. Hesitation when passing

3. Poor gas mileage (haven't broken 16 mpg yet, even on highway trips)

4. Tranny can't make up its mind which gear to downshift into when accelerating/passing. It either doesn't downshift at all, which causes the hesitation to be more pronounced, or it drops down a double gear, which causes whiplash.

Dealer says there are no codes, so nothing they can do...... Figures - I'm beginning to think "true" diagnosticians don't exist anymore. If a car doesn't produce any error codes, these guys apparently don't know what to do next.

We just returned from Yellowstone, where we rented a 2012 Suburban LT with about the same trim as our 2013 and it drove like a dream compared to ours. Although the 2013 is only 2 months old, I'm sorely tempted to trade this turkey back in on a 2012.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated, including any recommendations for good diagnostic shops around the Houston area?

TIA

John

Call Chevrolet Customer Service but if you want before doing that ask the dealer if he bothered looking through the TSB's, technical service bulletins. I currently see 5 bulletins and 2 sound like they may apply.

Thanks Zora, will do, and I'll report back if/when we get it resolved.

PIT-5206 describes our problems fairly well.
