I have a Malibu that a customer brought in she is stating that it will start fine in the morning when she goes to work after it sits and she goes on lunch it will crank but won't start but if she hits the fuse box in the trunk it will start. I did the diag on the fuse box and replaced the fuel pump fuse and relay she drove it and the problem was still there. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to fix it.

How close is that box to the pump?
Could her hitting the box be jarring a fuel pump that is on it's way out?
Can she try hitting the gas tank with something to see if that also gets the pump running?

I finally got it to ack up I drove the car for about an hour let it sit for 30 minutes and it wouldn't start. I ended up pulling the fuse box in the trunk and found that the brown wier going to the fuel pump relay had been hot and the end going in to the box was Burn up so I replced the wier and I drove it for about an hr and no problems yet.
