I have 2010 LTZ that would not start the other day. My wife had it jumped started. And it ran for a few days. Then a few days later it would not start again. I had her check to make sure there are no lights on. After another jump start she took it to the auto parts shop to get the Battery and alternator checked out. Both tested out good. So now I am looking at the starter. My question is has anyone ever had an issue like this? Is there something else I should be looking at?

Thanks

If she took it to the shop why didnt they figure out what the problem is? If it starts with a jump you have a battery that is either weak or being drained by some system that is not turning off when you remove the key and close the doors.

Or it could be as simple as a corroded battery post, clamp or cable. Check those.

zora, That’s what I was thinking that something was left on after she turned the vehicle off. She said there is nothing left on.

Chuzz,
From what I hear the battery, clamps and cables are in good shape.

So she will take it back to the shop to check out the starter.

This will be a challenge to figure out being far away from home.

You misunderstood my comment. It is not a driver controllable system that continues to run, it is a computer controlled system that creates a parasitic drain on the battery after the vehicle is turned off. If the vehicle starts with a boost it is NOT the starter. You need a shop capable of diagnosing problems with the BCM, body control module.

floridabrian,

I am sorry to hear about the issues that you are having with your vehicle. Have you considered taking it to a GM dealership? I definitely recommend this. Please let me know if I can help you locate one nearest to you.

I agree that if it boost starts, it's not starter related. I highly recommend getting that battery load tested at your closest local auto parts chain, like Autozone, Advance, O'Reillys or even Pep Boys. I know you had it tested somewhere already, but I'd do it again. It sounds to me like you've got a bad cell in the battery. BUT, I'm not a mechanic, I've just kept my cars going for over 40 years.

I ask my wife to take it to the Chevy dealer to get it check out. I agree it is not the starter. The battery and alternator tested good under load. There is something draining the battery.
Thanks for you help. I will keep you posted.
It is hard to diagnose the vehicle while being deployed.

are you still under the 3 years 36K mile full coverage? hope you come home soon.

We appreciate your service, Brian. If I lived closer to where your vehicle is, I'd offer to go and check the charging system myself, but as you can see, I'm in Tennessee.

Good news. After taking the Suburban to the dealers and have it diagnosed. Turns out the battery was the issue. Replaced the battery, all is right. Thanks for everyone input.

glad to hear it worked out for you and the wife
