I have a 2007 Suburban 2500 LS and everything I read says it has a 39 gallon fuel capacity. Over the last 60K miles, I have proven that to be true. In the last few months, it has been running out of gas with about 4-5 gallons remaining. It will be fine, with the guage just below one-fourth, driving along and the low fuel light comes on and within a minute, it stalls. When I get it to a gas station, I can only put 35 gallons in it.

I had it on a lift recently and it appears to have two fuel tanks. The fuel fill tube splits and one side goes to a coffin sized tank and the other side goes to a smaller tank above the spare.

If I do have two seperate tanks, do I have two fuel pumps? If so, would it make sense that the smaller tank is not getting to the fuel system? It appears so in this picture.

These fuel run-outs have only occurred while towing, with the tow-mode engaged.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I really doubt there is a second tank, in all probablity you see the evaporative emissions tank used to separate fumes from gas. You may have a problem with the float in the tank feeding incorrect readings to the computer.

Anyone with knowledge of this fuel system?
It looks like two tanks, pumps, plus the evap canister.
Thanks again,
Joe

any reason why you just dont ask a GM dealer that question? cannt imagine they would charge for that information, you could even ask the quy at the parts counter.

They do charge for diagnosing a problem.
My experience with dealers is:
"Bring it in, we'll check it out. What is your Visa #?" If they don't find anything, I still pay...
I'm hoping that service techs frequent these boards.

I know this is an old post but where did you find that drawing of the frame? Do you know if GM used the GMT800 (1999-2006) suburban 2500 frames under the GMT900 (2007-2014) suburban 2500's? Was the old frame used for the two body generations?

Frame for 2006 shows no application beyond that year.
Thanks, my wife t boned some one and our frame is bent on our 2011 suburban 2500. Know of any resources where I could buy a new one? I didn't see one on GMpartsdirect.com Ive been talking to a frame straightening specialist and from what he's telling me is it might not be fixable from the pictures i sent him. I haven't got the truck back from insurance yet but would like to know if can even buy a new replacement. Ive been calling local salvage yards, but no luck. Not a very popular truck.
