I have a 2007 Suburban 2500 LS and everything I read says it has a 39 gallon fuel capacity. Over the last 60K miles, I have proven that to be true. In the last few months, it has been running out of gas with about 4-5 gallons remaining. It will be fine, with the guage just below one-fourth, driving along and the low fuel light comes on and within a minute, it stalls. When I get it to a gas station, I can only put 35 gallons in it.
I had it on a lift recently and it appears to have two fuel tanks. The fuel fill tube splits and one side goes to a coffin sized tank and the other side goes to a smaller tank above the spare.
If I do have two seperate tanks, do I have two fuel pumps? If so, would it make sense that the smaller tank is not getting to the fuel system? It appears so in this picture.
These fuel run-outs have only occurred while towing, with the tow-mode engaged.
Thanks in advance for your help.
