I am a sophomore in college and am looking to get a new car, either one of these. I know the civic has 197 hp and the cobalt has 205 or something like that. I don't really care about which one is faster- I'm not going to be racing or anything like that. I am leaning towards the Civic, but since it's a bit more expensive I still can't decide. Anyone have any input? Thanks, and if you're going to recommend one, please give legitimate reasons why. Thank you!

Have you checked out the Sentra SE-R?
If not please do.I think its a better value than either of those.

If I had to choose one of those however it would be the civic simply because it is a Honda.Cobalts are not exactly known for being quality vehicles

it's not just power, torque plays a factor and the Civic has about 50 pounds less than the Cobalt. however, GM's recent four-cylinder cars have never been great in terms of reliability. my best advice would be to get the Honda, Civics have always been some of the most reliable cars out there and the Si is no exception. there's a reason why it has higher resale value.
