2006 Malibu "Error" message on odometer

Hello.

I have a 2006 Malibu. While driving, we receive an "Error" on the odometer. The following gauges go to 0, RPM, MPH. The Fuel gauge goes to "Empty", the Temp gauge goes to C. The T/C light will stay solid, and the security light will stay solid. Under the radio, there is a display panel. There is will read "low fuel" "Power Steering". The AC also goes warm.

I've Googled this error, and I see MANY responses. Can anyone nail the issue down, or suggest what I should do first?

Can this be done at aNY auto shop or just a chevy dealership?

autozone does it for free and any repair shop can do it also

This sounds like a basic "Check engine light" check. This will scan the ECM as well? Will the ECM still generate a code, even though the check engine light didn't light up?

you need the system scanned for error codes, they maybe in history or not, good luck
