2006 Cobalt Stereo

Hello all!

Joined this forum because I have a 2006 Chevy Forum which doesn't have an AUX input or any way to play my iPhone's music. (Searched on here for an answer and couldn't find one)

I called Crutchfield for a stereo advice and when I found a replacement receiver I liked, they said I would've had to buy adapter to make sure the information center was kept and everything else hooked up correctly. Too expensive!

Now I am thinking about buying a 2008 Cobalt stereo that has a AUX input.

My question is: Will the 2008 Cobalt (with AUX) work in my 2006 Cobalt LS?

The radios have theftlock you cannt switch radios between cars without having the VIN programmed. Look at the owners manual.

I have heard that you do need that 100 dollar adapter and that you dont, i dont know if i need it or not. I have heard that if you install a aftermarket player without the adapter that your airbags might go off, but i dont know. I found a simple wiring harness on ebay that costs 18 bucks and it might work. All i need to kno is if i NEED the 100 dollar adapter and what will happen if i dont get it.

never heard of air bags going off for that reason. Without specifics I cannt tell you what you are buying for $18.
