Hello folks

I just purchased a very clean well taken care of garage kept Chevy Trailblazer SS, with 102.000 miles on it. But it will not change from 1st to 2nd gear until it gets to 25 MPH, and after that it goes from 2nd 3rd and 4th real smooth and without any problems. Does anybody know what could be causng this problem. Even when I get to 25 MPH and it goes to 2nd from 1st it does it smooth. It is just that I know it should shift much sooner because you can hear the engine roar until it gets to 2nd. I like this SUV very clean not a dent on it the paint is like it was in a showroom, the insde is clean and the engine. So I would like to keep it for a couple more years. So would somebody please give me some advice.

You might try changing the fluid and filter. If you don't want to do that, take it to a shop and have them check your clutch volume indexes. You may have some worn clutches. Most shops will do this free of charge if they think you'll let them do the repairs.

Hmmm, thanks, another guy told me that it might be sticking valves or bad trans solenoids.

It could be, but the cheapest and easiest fix is to replace the filter and fluid, do NOT flush the transmission.

You might also add some of the Lucas transmission treatment along with the fluid and filter change. It's good stuff. Just be sure to read the label and add the correct amount.

Thanks guy's and I am big on Lucas. But anyway I had the tranny rebuilt, so it is running great now.
