I have an 06 Chevy Cobalt LS coupe. I have in the past, after many problems, had to have a piece called the "Central Control Unit" replaced, or I believe that's what it was called. 2 days ago, I was pulling out of the driveway, the power steering froze up, there was clicking in the shifter, and check engine and theft device lights were on. A few hours later, it was acting just fine and 2 different mechanic's said everything looked hunky dorey, couldn't detect a darn thing. Here we are 2 days later, and it happens again. My husband was attempting to drive it and I noticed the head and parking lights are also blinking. In addition, the brakes are very stiff - just as stiff as the steering. I may note that I have a model with electric power steering - there is no power steering fluid because of this. My mechanic is out of town, I hope to take it in tomorrow, but I have no idea how much this beast may cost and the anxiety is getting to me - taking daughter on a family trip next week and don't want this to be a financial barrier. Any ideas on what's wrong and part price? Please help me ease my mind. Thanks!
