My husband and I own a 2005 Chevy Malibu it is paid off in full and the only care we own. It is in great running shape but the body is rough from a hail storm we had this past summer (we live in Kansas). Well he deployed to Iraq last week for a year tour. While he is gone I want to fix the car up and make look as close to new as I can for a surprise to him. I want to replace the hood, trunk, headlights, tail lights and re-paint it. We have an auto craft shop here on post that Im allowed to use and they have a paint bay also, they said they are willing to teach and help me do it. My question is am I out of my league by trying to do this? I really dont want to just take it to a professional because this is something I really want to do for him. How much do you think the parts I listed would cost, I called the junk yards around here and no one has any parts for our car, so Im guessing I will have t order them brand new...please dont be rude with your answers
