I've been looking on craigslist for a while for my first car (im 16) (budget<$5000). I've looked at Dodge Stratus', Honda Accords, and basically ever car in between. I loved the dodge stratus' but then when I was about to purchase one I found it needed $2000 in repairs-and that it was a crappy car in general. The mechanic told me that I should star looking at Honda Accords because they're good cars, but ive realized after test driving a few (1998-1999) I don't really like them...i know its a good car,at least have to at least like it!

So, I just recently found a 2005 Chevy Cobalt on Craigslist with 32,000 miles, and priced at $4000. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion was on this car. I've looked at the reviews on the car, and there are a wide range of opinions. Some absolutely love their Cobalt, and others said there are tons of problems with the power steering.

So, all in all, what do you guys think?

Thanks!!!

Probably salvaged or a big POS. The Cobalt is one of the worst cars in it's class.
I wouldn't even look at this even if it was a good deal.

If you want to buy an American nameplate, look at the Focus. It's twice the car of the Cobalt or any Chrysler.

I think its a very decent car! Perfect for a first time driver like you! The price is very good and the mileage is pretty low.

Go for it:)
