2004 Suburban lost 3 rd & 4 th gear & reverse

It was was driving okay and then all the suddenly it wouldn't go into 3rd and 4th and no reverse...I just bought it...anybody with any thought or advise that could help lead me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated thank you

You just bought it from a private party or a dealer?
Did you check the fluid level?
Does the fluid smell burnt?
It sounds like a solenoid or other internal issue.

Thanks ,,,no no burnt smell,,, I found out it was a sun gear,,, how much should I expect to pay for a remanufactured transmission ?

That varies on the hourly rate of the shop doing the job. Time estimate 6 to 8 hours at most.
