I have an issue with my '04 Suburban pumping out hot air on the driver's side only. Sometimes it'll flip to cold, sometimes it won't. I've replaced the air valve, but to no avail. Is replacing the head unit the next logical

When you say "air valve", do you mean the blend door actuator?

Yes. Thank you. Didn't bother looking it up or recalling from memory.

So... Do you think the head unit changed out would help?

Have you checked the high/low pressure?
You can throw parts at the problem but better off determining the actual cause.

So, the temperature works fine in the rest of the car. Only the driver's vents stay on hot. That's why I'm here. To determine the actual (or probable) cause.

So you haven't actually tested the state of charge?
Beyond that without a tool, Tech 2 for example, it's guessing.

I'm just wondering why a state of charge would affect the blend door actuator. Air is ice cold everywhere else in the car. So, my question remains, is the blend door actuator controlled by the HVAC head unit or another computer in the vehicle?

The HVAC headunit module is the control and Dorman appears to have new units.
