2004 Burb 1500 Acceleration Issue

This does not happen all the time, but more frequently. When I start out going forward, and I press the gas pedal, the car acts like I pressed the brake pedal hard. If I let up on the gas, 99% of the time, the car will then accelerate normally. When I get to a red light, press the gas pedal again, it will act like brake pedal was touched. I have tried to pinpoint anything out of the ordinary when it happens. There is no slip, or RPM acceleration.

Can certainly use some advise. I have not brought it to anyone yet. Hoping something that I might be able to take care.

1. do you have a check engine light on?
2. Have you checked the air filter?
3. How many miles since you changed the fuel filter?
4. How many miles on the plugs?

Check engine did come on recently, after the issue. I just picked this up in February, so I don't have answers to the rest of questions.

i can run to Autozone and have them due a free code check. Plugs could have been changed, I would say fuel filter not, I will check air filter. Why would fuel filter and air filter only have issue when starting out, vs having issues when driving ?

I will post back once I have some info....

Just attempting to find out how well basic maintenance has been performed on this vehicle before jumping to more involved issues. Constant speed requires less fuel than accelerating so if fuel pressure is minimal may account for part of the problem but the code from the check engine light should tell you more.
