The fuel pump went out on my fathers truck. I dropped the tank and tested the fuel pump with my power probe. The fuel pump ran for about 20 seconds and then slowly died so I know it was bad. I installed a new fuel pump and it of course didn't have the same plug. But it came with a new plug and a diagram for installing it.
I installed it correctly but the pump wouldn't work. So I checked the pump with my probe and it worked fine when I added 12 volts to it. I checked the voltage at the plug I installed and it only has 5 volts coming out of it.
Does anybody have any Idea why there is only 5 volts coming out of the power supply on the plug? And no I haven't probed the wire before the new connection yet... Meaning at the trucks original wires before the Butt connectors.
Does anybody think it's the new connections? A shorted wire? Or is the pump running off computer power and the ecm or pcm might be bad?
