2002 malibu - ticking noise

Hi all,

Stepdaughter had the crankshaft and bearings replaced on her 2002 malibu 3.1 - engine now has a knocking/ticking sound about mid engine when at low idle which goes away upon acceleration. Any ideas? Can't remember if it was there before work was done
