2002 Chevy Avalanche outside mirror swing in lock spring. The outside mirror will

not lock in position.? I folded the outside mirror in and when I folded it back out I believe the spring inside came disconnected and the mirror will not lock in position. I believe there is a lock type washer on top of the spring that applies pressure to keep the mirror in position. Is there a way to repair this. How can you take the mirror out to gain access to the inside of the unit? How can I repair this condition?
