2001 surburban

I just recently got a surburban from a guy. My service engine light was on.. When I took it to the shop the code said its running to lean. I have a misfire on my number 6 cylinder and my fuel needle jumps from full to empty.. Is that my pump or my floater or something in my dash.. when I drive it goes back to where its suppose to be

You say when you drive it goes to normal so exactly when is it jumping from full to empty?

When I first start the vehicle and when im sitting at a light or stopped in traffic

It could be the sender unit in the tank or the connection to the sender. There is a slight possiblity it's the gauge but starting with the sender is the easier way to go.
