I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban with about 130000 miles on it. Recently the check engine light has turned on (it starts off solid, then after a few minutes it will flash, then go back to solid again). Since the light has turned on, the idle has been running rough at about 500 RPMs, but only once it is warmed up. the engine will shake back and forth causing the car to shake and you can feel it from inside the car. If i release the brake, and 'coast' without using the gas, the engine will kind of sputter like it is going to shut off (tho it never has). When accelerating, it feels as though there is a loss of power. If i accelerate slowly, it does fine, but if i am going about 30 mph and hammer it down, it doesnt have as much of a punch and at around 45 mph the car will jerk and quickly gain and loose power (almost like it is misfiring) but it doesnt seem like it is misfiring at low speed. This question was asked by someone before (Ace) but he never made note of his resolution. Nor does he accept emails. If anyone has any good advice or has had this before, please respond.
I did have he code checked, Code read random misfire. I have had a coil pack go bad before, on that instance it actually read Cyl 7.

sounds like your idle/air sensor is bad, if you leave it at just an idle does it run rough? if so its the sensor, sounds like the senor because you said your check engine light comes on, that is caused by bad sensors or the sensor isnt plugged in, the sensor is most likely located on the throttle body somewhere, im not real sure with the suburbans, just look for a sensor unplugged and if your not wanting to mess with it, just go to a dealership and ask for a diagnostice test and it will tell you everything you need to know, who knows you may have several sensors bad, the test shouldnt cost much at all, hope that helps good luck
