2001 Chevy Silverado HD 2500, how much is it worth?

I have a 2001 Silverado that seemed to be in perfect condition until the emgine went.. I want to trade it without an engine but how much should I get without one? There is an used engine I could buy for 12000 with 50000 miles on it. After all the work we;ll end up paying 3000 for it. Would it be better to buy the used one or just trade it without the engine?

the dealer will give you next to nothing for it either way. Your best bet would be to change the motor and privately sell it. or keep it? Can i ask why the engine went and how many miles does your truck have now?
