On my 2000 suburban 5.3 at the drivers side the fuel rail (area) there is a struggling noise when I turn the ignition to on. I do not know if my fuel pump could be starting to go. This was purchased used and has roughly 146000 mile. If I run errands around the neighborhood and the engine is warmed up, it does not like to turn over. It will when I give it gas to prime it. Any thoughts on a diagnosis? Thanks

Do you have a check engine light on? Check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator for presence of gasoline. If you see gas, replace the regulator.

I do have check engine light and bought a code reader. Code that comes up is p0420 catalyst bank one. Im thinking with that code it could be worth replacing the cat. Truck does not overheat and runs like a champ when running. She is just a hard starter now and again.

Get under it and bang on the cat con with a rubber mallet. If you hear crap rattling INSIDE, then go ahead and replace it. If you just hear a buzzing type rattle, it's probably just a loose heat shield and not the problem.
